Published in Paris, Matto presents an intimate portrait of contemporary artists at work. ‘Matto’ means ‘crazy’ in Italian (editors and creative directors Aldo Buscalferri and Dominika Hadelova are Italian and Czech, respectively) and there’s a carefully crafted craziness running through the pages. Delving deep into their inspirations and processes, the magazine introduces a varied selection of painters, sculptors, designers, and makers, inviting readers into the cluttered corners and spattered studios where they spend their days. Part of the fun of Matto is that we’re encouraged to focus on the process of creation, rather than the polished end result.
