Nakladatelství Bigg Boss se v závěru své patnáctileté existence rozhodlo realizovat jeden z největších knižních projektů vlastní historie. ARCHITEKTURA 58–89 je dosud nejrozsáhlejší publikací o stigmatizované předrevoluční architektuře z let 1958–1989. Dva svazky o bezmála čtrnácti stech stranách, vážících 5,6 kg, jsou pevným stavebním základem pro narovnání vztahů mezi širokou veřejností a stigmatizovanou architekturou předrevolučních desetiletí. Ambiciózní počin na poli dokumentární literatury vznikal téměř deset let, na třicet odborníků pod vedením Vladimira 518 v něm představuje více než čtyřicet architektů, autorských dvojic či skupin, které ve vymezeném období razantně zasáhly do dějin naší architektury.
At the end of its fifteen-year existence, Bigg Boss Publishing House decided to implement one of the biggest book projects in its history. ARCHITECTURE 58-89 is the most comprehensive publication to date on stigmatized pre-revolutionary architecture from 1958-1989. Weighing in at nearly fourteen hundred pages and weighing 5.6 kg, the two volumes provide a solid building block for straightening out the relationship between the general public and the stigmatized architecture of the pre-revolutionary decades. An ambitious undertaking in the field of documentary literature, it has been almost ten years in the making, with thirty experts, led by Vladimir 518, presenting more than forty architects, artist pairs or groups that made a decisive impact on the history of our architecture in the defined period.

„Drtivá většina takzvané komunistické architektury nemá co do formální stránky s touto ideologií nic společného, přesto na ní dodnes ulpívá nános negativních emocí a neporozumění. Dlouhodobě se bohužel nedaří najít zdravý vztah k této dnes již historické architektuře, proto z ulic našich měst mizí jedna důležitá stavba za druhou. Pokud se nám jako společnosti nepodaří uchovat alespoň to zbývající z kvalitních staveb začátku druhé poloviny 20.století, vymažeme tak jednou pro vždy kus vlastní historie a kulturní paměti,“ upozorňuje na důležitost tématu tvůrce konceptu knihy a její editor Vladimir 518, jemuž se podařilo sestavit soustředěný tým odbornic a odborníků s cílem utvořit komplexního průvodce, odvážně vstupujícího do společenské diskuze, která se okolo tématu předrevoluční architektury stále intenzivně vede.
Impozantní vizuální charakter publikace z dílny 20YY Designers (Robert Jansa & Petr Bosák) utváří historické výkresy, návrhy a plány a především unikátní dobové, mnohdy dosud nepublikované fotografie z archivů z celé republiky. Oba rozsáhlé knižní svazky přitom čtenářům nenabídnou pouze fascinující přehled do vrcholů naší předrevoluční architektury – poskytnou jim také detailní orientaci v kompletním dobovém kontextu, od politického systému přes základní architektonické styly, technologie nebo aplikovaná umělecká díla až po pozice žen v architektuře či nadčasové otázky památkové ochrany.
"The overwhelming majority of so-called communist architecture has nothing to do with this ideology in terms of its formal aspects, yet a layer of negative emotions and misunderstanding still clings to it. Unfortunately, in the long term it has been impossible to find a healthy relationship with this now historical architecture, which is why one important building after another is disappearing from the streets of our cities. If we as a society fail to preserve at least what is left of the quality buildings of the beginning of the second half of the 20th century, we will erase a piece of our own history and cultural memory once and for all," says Vladimir 518, the author of the book's concept and its editor, who has managed to assemble a focused team of experts with the aim of creating a comprehensive guide that boldly enters the social debate that is still intensively taking place around the topic of pre-revolutionary architecture.
The impressive visual character of the publication from 20YY Designers (Robert Jansa & Petr Bosák) is shaped by historical drawings, designs and plans, and above all by unique period photographs, many of them unpublished, from archives across the country. The two comprehensive book volumes will not only offer readers a fascinating insight into the highlights of our pre-revolutionary architecture - they will also provide them with a detailed orientation in the complete contemporary context, from the political system to the basic architectural styles, technologies or applied artworks, to the position of women in architecture or the timeless issues of historic preservation.
