Travis Jeppesen v knize Špatné psaní přichází s radikální myšlenkou, že selhání nemusí být vždy neúspěch. Jeho zájem o „špatnou“ literaturu, film či výtvarné umění neústí v argumentaci vedenou ve prospěch „správných“ podob tvorby, ale naopak v kritické pochopení, že právě pro to, čím tyto práce – mnohdy umanutě a zatvrzele – jsou, jsou zajímavé a má smysl věnovat jim pozornost. Neoddělitelnou součástí tohoto sdělení je i samotná jeho forma, která experimentuje s jazykem až na hranici možného, jež se v případě Travise Jeppesena nachází v oblasti objektově orientovaného psaní.
