Nové číslo je oslavou slov a jejich přítomnosti v médiu kresby. V době falešných zpráv a populismu se zdá, že slovo ztratilo půdu pod nohama a antiintelektualismus přebírá vládu. Je proto důležitější než kdy jindy chválit psaný projev ve všech jeho podobách - ať už je přerýsovaný, rozstříhaný, počmáraný, nebo dokonce jen vypadá jako písmo, které zde najdete. V tomto čísle si ukážeme některé slovní kresby Eda Ruschy, které mu vynesly status jednoho z nejvlivnějších poválečných umělců. Podobně se jazyk stal klíčovým nástrojem i pro Sola LeWitta, který psal instrukce, aby umožnil ostatním realizovat jeho kresby. Pro LeWitta je myšlenka uměleckého díla vyjádřená slovy a funkcemi podstatou konceptuálního díla. LeWittovy instrukce si můžete přečíst a případně se jimi řídit uvnitř tohoto čísla časopisu Fukt.
The new issue is a celebration of words and their presence in the medium of drawing. In a time of fake news and populism, the word seems to have lost some ground and anti-intellectualism appears to be taking over. It’s more important than ever therefore to praise the written expression in all its forms – whether it’s been rearranged, cut, scribbled or even if it just looks like writing, all of which you can find here. In this issue we show some of Ed Ruscha’s word drawings, which earned him the status of one of the most influential post-war artists. Language similarly became a crucial tool for Sol LeWitt, who wrote out instructions to enable others to execute his drawings. For LeWitt, the idea of the artwork as expressed in words and functions is the essence of a conceptual work.
